The Informed Homeowner July2009
The Informed homeowner for July 2009
While we try to make since of all that is happening around us, I ran into an interesting paragraph spoken over 86 year ago by Will Rodgers. The following is from his auto biography by Donald Day: (paraphrasing by Donald Day)
Then it might be on borrowing money. "If you think it ain't a Sucker Game, why is your Banker the richest man in your Town?...Why is your Bank the biggest and finest building in your Town?...Now I'm not going to put these Bankers out of business right away...I'm kinder warning them...Of course the Ali Baba of this gang is J.P. Now, give John credit. It's no small job, when you have to handle the finances of the world in addition to your own country, to be suddenly deprived of his livlihood...Then there is Otto Kahn, one of the most pleasant men I ever saw...And Charlie Schwab, who has the greatest personality of any man in America...Of course Charlie don't hardly come under the heading of Banker...He only owns just the ones in Pennsylvania...You see it's not from a personal view that I am abolishing Banks. It's just that I don't think these Boys realize really what a menace they are."
So as it goes-nothing new under the sun.
